Handshake Partners

Time : 10 Minutes

 

Materials Needed:

  • Power point with questions for each handshake.

 

Instructions:

  • To start off this activity you want to have the participants in 2 concentric circles. (They can start in a circle and after the first person steps in every other person steps in.)
  • Have the inside circle face the outside circle and shake hands with the person in front of them. (This way you can manage the pairs, is there one missing, etc..)
  • Introduce handshake:
    • Lumberjack
    • Fisherman
    • Cappucino
    • Jellyfish
    • Coca-Cola
    • Heartbeat

 

Rules:

  • Make sure that the participants remember their handshake partners
  • You can’t choose your partner

  • Great activity to help group participants

Question Card Pass

Question Card Pass

Time : 5-10 Minutes Group Size: 6-8

Materials Needed:

  • 1 index card per participant
  • 1 pen per participant

Instructions:

  • Distribute materials.
  • Ask participants to write one question on their card. (Question will relate to a prompt that you have, based on objectives around your program.)
  • Participants will mingle around the room sharing their questions with others.
  • After two participants share questions and responses they then swap cards with each other and find a new partner to meet up with and share their new question.

Rules:

  • You must switch cards after providing your response to the other person’s question.
  • Encourage participants to mingle with people who they do not normally interact with.

Note:

  •  You can do this activity using up to 3 index cards.
  • Prompt examples:
    • A question you would like to ask someone you admire.
    • A question you would like to ask about life.
    • Ask one meaningful question, one funny question, and one creative question.
People to People

People to People

 Time: 5 Minutes

 

Materials Needed:

  • N/A

 

Instructions:

  • Everyone must be in a pair for this activity.
  • The facilitator will make some calls on ways partners will connect. (i.e. hand to hand, shoulder to shoulder, back to back, etc…)
  • When the facilitator calls out one of these prompts, the pair must get into these positions as soon as possible.
  • When “People to People” is called you must separate from your pair and find another person to partner up with.

 

Rules:

  • You must respond to the call as soon as possible.

 

Note:

  •  You can open up the calls to the participants.
    • If participants are uncomfortable with any of the positions called, they can revert to a standard touch (ex. hand to hand)
    • If you want to add a level of intensity you can say the last pair to get into position is out, and helps the facilitator judge for the rest of the rounds.
